Grave, 2013b).
Habitat: Larger river systems.
Description: This species, which has
a maximum size of 125 mm, is distinguished by its smaller size, relatively
long and slender second legs, greater
spinosity, and very short to moderately
long rostrum. The rostral crest has
7–11 teeth. The distal, dorsal margin of
the rostrum usually bears one or two
teeth, but may be unarmed or bear as
many as three or four teeth. The ventral
margin of the rostrum has four to six
teeth. The second legs of the adult male
are fairly massive, the palm of which is
slender and of uniform width throughout. Old males possess a very scabrous
carapace. The posterior thoracic legs are
somewhat slender (Johnson, 1973).

Distribution: Indo-Pacific region, northern Australia, and Southeast Asia (De
Grave et al., 2013a).
Habitat: Tropical freshwater environments influenced by adjacent brackish
water areas.
Description: Males of this species
may reach a total length of 320 mm
and females 250 mm. Body of the animal is usually greenish to brownish
grey, sometimes more bluish, darker in
larger specimens. Antennae are often
blue, and chelipeds are blue or orange.
Carapace is smooth and hard. Rostrum
is long, slender, and somewhat sigmoid with 11–14 dorsal and 8–10 ventral teeth. Eyes are stalked. Thorax
contains three pairs of maxillipeds,
