Mercury extraction and cleaning of gases and reworking products of gas and
oil deposits with separating mercury as a fairly toxic element is too important for
environmental protection. It is important even in cases when mercury is not an
important industrial component: the huge amounts of world annual reworking
gas and oil should be accounted.
Investigations of mercury are important from two aspects, as revealing the
main regularities of its migration concerning hydrocarbons as a part of a large
geochemical cycle of mercury migration and evaluation of possible mercury
extraction or cleaning of gases and oil products for environmental protection
(taking into account the huge scale of extraction of hydrocarbon gas and oil).
