EXtensive renal lesions caused by microsporidian infection were recorded for
first time in the kidneys of the Indian major carp, Labeo rohita. The«ü…
carps were highly emaciated and showed haemarrhagic lesi0nS en
ions parts of the body. Histopathological studies showed severe structural
alterations in the tubular epithelium of the kidney where the parasites had
intracellularly. Intracellular developmental stages of the parasites
serious damage to the infected epithelial cells; ultiàtely facilita+
their release into the tubular lumen.
