Immuno-staining was also used to examine the effects of peptides isolated from
microalgae ferment on enteric nerve cells in the stomach wall following damage
with Helicobacter pylori. As shown in Fig. 7.12, stomach wall nerve cells damaged
by H. pylori exhibited damage due to collapse in the cell membrane boundaries. In
contrast, those treated with peptides exhibited similar cell wall formation to normal
cells and gradual recovery (Cheung et al. 2015).
Many other functional foods and pharmaceuticals have been obtained from
marine resources as well. Marine microalgae are thus expected to continue
