B. Division and Partitioning
Technology for separating cells when there is a mixture of several different
forms of cells in a suspension includes special devices that select particular cells
based on subtle differences in size (the mesh technique), density (centrifugal separation), surface charge (carrier-free electrophorosis), and content or dyeing properties (cell sorting).
In holoblastic cleavage, where cleavage occurs throughout the cytoplasm of a
fertilized egg, an organism may arise at the blastomeres at two to four cell stages,
allowing for the production of genetically identical twins or quadruplets. Among
land animals, successful examples have already taken place with (livestock)
mammals.
