2.5.1 Physical Properties
1. Composition of Particles
Generally lunar soil is hardly sorted and the distribution range of its granularity is
very wide. The diameter of most of the particles is smaller than 1 mm. The diameter
of the majority of particles is 30~1000 μm. The medium of diameter is 40~130 μm
and the average is 70 μm.
The fine particle of lunar soil with diameter smaller than 20 μm takes 10~20%
of the lunar soil. These particles may easily float and attach to the equipment. The
shape of the particle varies extremely. Shapes ranging from spherical to extreme
