4 Structure and Mechanism Technology of Lunar Lander
(1) Pyrotechnics pharmacy stability assessment. The key to the reliable operation
of pyrotechnics in extremely high temperature environments was whether the
pyrotechnics is stable. Through the analysis of vacuum stability, DSC, TGA
and purity, and flame sensitivity test, the pyrotechnics pharmacy stability after
experiencing extreme high temperature environment could be fully evaluated.
(2) Pyrotechnics performance under high temperature and reliability test. In order
to further verify the reliability of pyrotechnics after experiencing high temperature environment, a pyrophoric performance test was conducted on the
pyrotechnics and the gas pressure after firing was tested. The reliability of
the pyrotechnics could be evaluated through the gas pressure test results.
(3) Pyro technic spyrophoric test under high temperature. Based on the evaluation of the pharmacy stability of pyrotechnics, the pyrophoric performance
and reliability test, the pyrotechnics was conducted pyrophoric test after high
temperature storage to verify the function of pyrotechnics.
4.4.3 Transfer Mechanism for Lunar Rover
The lunar rover was an important approach to implement scientific lunar exploration.
It was often necessary to design a special transfer mechanism for the release of
the lunar rover to satisfy the mission requirements for the deployment of the lunar
lander. The design of transfer mechanism for the lunar rover should be based on
characteristics of the mission, configuration and function of the lunar rover, and
lunar surface environment. The design and verification of the transfer mechanism
for the Chang’E-3 lunar lander and the lunar rover is briefly introduced in this section.
1. Determination of Design Requirements
As an important part of the Chang’E-3 Lunar Lander, the major requirements for the
transfer mechanism are as follows:
(1) Hold down and release. In order to meet the requirements of the launch vehicle
fairing envelop and load, the transfer mechanism should be held during launch
and released after soft-landing of the lander.
(2) Support for transfer of the lunar rover. When the lunar rover was transferred
to lunar surface, the structure of the transfer mechanism should have sufficient
strength and stiffness to provide support for the lunar rover and keep the lunar
rover stable.
(3) Transfer of the lunar rover. After the lunar rover was released, the transfer
mechanism should move the lunar rover to the lunar surface and ensure that
the tilt angle of the lunar rover did not exceed the required value during transfer.
At the same time, the transfer mechanism should be able to adapt to certain
landing attitude and lunar terrain.
(4) Reliability. Because the reliability of transfer mechanism was crucial to the
mission goal of the lunar rover, the transfer mechanism should be as simple
and reliable as possible.
