Steven Peterzen
He is the CEO and President of International Science Technology And Research
(ISTAR). He has almost three decades of experience in stratospheric ballooning. By
maintaining certifications in outdoor survival education, the field operations remain
as safe as possible. His certifications include Wilderness First Responder, National
Outdoor Leadership School Instructor certification, River Rescue, ROV Pilot certified, Diving certifications, Professional Ski Instructors of America, long and short
line sling load certifications for helicopters, and pilot training for fixed wing aircraft.
This training keeps the ISTAR team current in the foremost rescue and safety aspects
that, in the end, result in successful recovery operations. He is also a professional
skier, PSIA certified in Alpine, Telemark, and Cross Country techniques. He is currently instructing/coaching at Hoodoo Ski area near Sisters, Oregon.
Jorge L. Pineda
He earned his B.S. in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Chile in 1996
and his M.S.in Astronomy in 2002. He earned his Ph.D. in Astronomy from the
University of Bonn and the Max Planck Institute in 2007. His main research
