Abstract For the large vacuum systems, which is in the condition of vacuum testing,
acoustic emission testing and stress–strain test were implemented in the areas of
stress concentration. Elimination of noise by interference, combined stress–strain
test results, the data of signal source was analyzed. Results show that the monitoring
for the areas of stress concentration and structure instability, forecast can be achieved
effectively. And then, an effective security evaluation method, which is applied to
the online testing and later inspecting of the large vacuum system, is proposed.
38.1 Introduction
Acoustic emission testing has been widely used in many fields. For the typical equipment in the pressure-resistant test or in the service state, such as the pressure vessel,
the acoustic emission testing can carry out the whole process and real-time structural
integrity evaluation, the activity monitoring of key defects, and the monitoring and
prediction of structural instability and damage. Compared with other nondestructive testing methods, acoustic emission testing has obvious and unique advantages
in real-time, nondestructive safety evaluation, defect activity monitoring, structural
instability and failure prediction. For metal pressure vessels, acoustic emission testing
technology is a new nondestructive testing method which is gradually becoming more
and more mature.
