36.3 Conclusions
In this paper, AE technology is used to solve the technical problem of finding out the
internal leakage of a non- internal pressure structure which has been bothering the
owner for many years. We not only successfully found the penetrating crack which
caused the internal leakage, but also unexpectedly found another internal surface
crack which is about to penetrate.
The test case shows that for some technical problems of “unsatisfactory” or
“unconventional” AE test conditions, if other methods cannot be implemented or
invalid, we can boldly try to use AE technology to solve it through careful analysis
and detailed targeted detection scheme. How can you know if you don’t try?
