2015 Prof. Bender is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Corporate Governance (ifu) at Ruhr University. As a member of the Scientific Community for product development
(WiGeP) and the Design Society, she has a national and international network. Prof. Bender’s
research interests address Engineering Design and relate to many years of experience in the
industry. Since 2020 she is Co-Editor of the international standard work on Engineering Design,
first edited in 1977, which has been translated into several languages: Pahl/Beitz Konstruktionslehre; Methoden und Anwendung erfolgreicher Produktentwicklung (Springer Verlag).
