Fig. 10 Pictorial representation of Mode 1
generated in India with the overall efficiency of 32%, which means it takes about three
equivalent units of primary energy to generate one unit of electricity. For corrugation,
this electricity is again converted to heat; therefore, it is better to generate the heat
at the required place by burning the fuel. Many medium-scale corrugation industries
run boiler to meet the needs of heat for corrugation. But, the boiler is preferred when
the heat is required continuously for long hours. LPG is easily available in India for
industrial usage. Thus, replacing the part of electricity which is meant for heating
by LPG is suggested as shown in Fig. 12, which would require replacing the electric
heaters with gas burners of equivalent size. This modification won’t require heavy
investments, but may provide both economic and environmental benefits.
2.3.3 Replacing the Grid Electricity with Solar PV Grid-Connected
Electricity and LPG for Heating Purposes
In this mode, the grid-connected electricity is completely replaced by LPG for heating
the corrugation roll, and solar PV grid-connected electricity to meet other needs of
electricity as shown in Fig. 13. As this mode has two modifications, implementation
of this mode can also be done in parts to ease the investments.
