the necessary surface area to produce the food that the workers will consume, this
being understood as “their fuel” for the work they carry out. This fact defends the use
of the EF indicator in the environmental assessment of the FBP, since the industry
of the building sector would not be possible without the resource of the manpower
force.
5.2 Direct Consumption Results
Focusing on the results shown in Table 10, the first thing to be observed is the impact
of indirect consumption on the BLC, which accounts for 60% of the total impact.
This places the focus of action on the works, that is, on controlling the building
projects. Therefore, if the aim is to reduce the damage that the building sector causes
to the environment, this will be achieved in a much more efficient way if the material
resources, machinery and manpower of the buildings are controlled instead of only
focusing the effort on reducing direct consumption during the stages of use. To all this,
