Development of Renewable Energies …

This chapter summarizes the forms of sustainable energy, the value of clean
energy, the ecological footprint, and the interaction among renewable energy and
the ecological footprint. It also reported that the usage of renewable energy lowers
the environmental footprint and increasing use of non-renewable resources increases
environmental harm.
2 Renewable Energy and Its Types
Renewable energy sources are energy supplies that are continuously refilled by
natural world and generated explicitly or implicitly from the environment or even
other natural motions and processes of the environment. Renewables do not really
contain non-renewable energy supplies, fossil fuel by-products, or synthetic byproducts [24, 33, 52]. The capacity for sustainable energy supplies is immense, and
that they will, in theory, massively surpass the worldwide energy requirements; thus
these resources would have a large part to play in the upcoming world energy supply,
most of which is still centered on increasing their inventory of renewable sources
[16]. Types of renewable energy are solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy,
biomass energy, and hydrogen as a fuel.
2.1 Solar Energy
Solar electricity is very inexpensive relative to many other sources of energy. They
also were plentiful and ideal for a wide range of applications. Maintenance costs for
solar power are also minimal. The key disadvantage is that they have been susceptible
to intermittent climate; thus, the need for a power storage facility that contributes to
the total expense of the technology [46, 68]. The development of sun energy grew
rapidly around 30 years. These have developed from simple systems to mass energy.
Since the invention of solar panels in the nineteenth century, many nations have used
solar electricity production. The first was the USA, preceded by Japan and Germany,
however currently China is the largest source of energy from the solar radiation
[29]. Solar power has been used either in sunlight thermal systems whereby solar
power is being used as a source of heat or partially used as a production of power
in concentrated solar farms specifically used to create power in photovoltaic and
concentrated solar photovoltaic systems [19, 47, 72].
Solar cooking has been the most quick and effective use of solar power. Solar
power is a viable alternative worthy of becoming one of the pioneering energy sources
for preparing food. Numerous kinds of solar cookers were affordable, from which
solar cooker form box is commonly used in the globe [8, 41].
Solar water heater of daily level, sufficient to fulfill much of the warm water
requirements of a family with children, provides substantial environmental security and should be used wherever necessary to ensure a better tomorrow [65]. It is
