9.6 Discussion
9.6.1 Implications
This case study identifies the major topics associated with Hurricane Maria in the
resolution stage by analyzing real-time social media data. The most significant
concerns about this disaster concentrate on the hazardous effects of this disaster
and the critiques of inadequate disaster relief responses. Complains about a lack of
water and power supply in Puerto Rico remain obvious even two months after Hurricane Maria dissipating on October 2, 2017. In addition, the mental health of affected
community members after suffering this intense hurricane also attracts the public’s
