The materials typically used for the different parts of the reactor are glass, silicon, stainless steel,
ceramics and polymers. The reagents can be pumped to the reactor by several means (syringe or
HPLC pumps, pressurized containers, etc.). Different types of mixers can be used such as passive
(based on structure of the channel walls) or active (ultrasound, magnetic, dielectric, etc.). The
reaction can be quenched by addition of a specific molecule, or by changing the temperature. The
in-line monitoring can be based on Raman, UV–Vis, FTIR, magnetic, etc.
