2 The Research Concept
When contacting experts, the author ensures full transparency regarding the
purpose and the use of the data collected during the interviews. The questionnaire,
background and intentions of the author is clearly outlined and provided in
advance to the experts. The experts are interviewed on a voluntary basis.
Part of the quantitative analysis may be used for further business development
purpose. As the author is currently working for a large renewable energy project developer, conclusions bearing sensitive commercial information may remain
confidential and only available to the author’s employer.

Limitations, Risks, and Assumptions
The author shall take the limitations related to interviews into account during their
preparation and performance. Issues such as the artificiality of the interview, the
lack of trust and the elite bias shall be avoided to ensure fruitful engagement with
the experts.
The author is currently employed by a large renewable energy project developer. This may have an impact of the sample selection as there are little chance
for the researcher to interview renewable energy project developer representatives
outside his own organisation.
