3 Model to Estimate CO 2 Emissions
To estimate CO 2 emissions, we use the MEET model [25], which relies on real
measurements to estimate transport emissions and energy consumptions for different
vehicle types taking into account the speed reduction. This relationship is also studied
by other authors like Smit et al. [36] and Abou-Senna and Radwan [1].
The calculation of emissions in grams per kilometer (E(v)) is based on the vehicle
types under analysis and on the speed value (v), as presented in Eq. (1).
