The attachment frame was inserted in the jar with a spacing of 25 mm from bottom
surface of the jar for accommodating the sludge growth at bottom. The projected arm
of each finished fixed angular frame is of dimension 54 mm × 275 mm × 3 mm.
Nine numbers rectangular fins of each size 52 mm × 275 mm × 3 mm were inserted
inside the slots formed between two fixed angular fins with the projected arm of
dimension 26 mm × 275 mm × 3 mm from the fixed surface. These rectangular fins
acted as the variable attachment surface inside the fixed one. Total fixed surface area
for attachment of biomass was 0.27 m
2 and total varying surface area for attachment
was 0.132 m
2 . A MS junction box is installed on the top of the jar through which nine
(9) nos of 10 mm dia CPVC pipes were vertically placed through nine (9) slots of
