Biomass density in the attached media was determined by washing the biofilm
surface with 25 mL 0.1 (N) NaOH and then heating the solution at 80 °C [1, 2].
Subsequently, by measuring the protein concentration in the washed out content as
per Lowry’s method [3] the amount of attached biomass was estimated.
The results of continuous study with synthetic wastewater are tabulated in Table
6.3.
