The inlet and outlet of the model were extended each with the length 6D (equivalent to the length of the diameter multiplied by six times), so that the flow through
the stented region, which is the segment of interest, will not be affected.
A structured mesh configuration with 533.856 cells was used.
3 Boundary Conditions
The boundary conditions set in the analysis were:
• Inlet: a real cardiac cycle, described by Banerjee et al. [8] was used as input
velocity (Fig. 3);
• Outlet: outlet pressure 0 Pa;
• Walls: rigid, nonslip, considering that vascular stented region suffer very small
deformations under cardiac cycle pressure due to the stents rigid conformation;
