Dover Publications, Mineola, NY. This is a graduatelevel book that covers the theory of ellipsometry in detail
and provides many interesting applications of the technique.
Vickerman, J. C. Surface Analysis—The Principal Techniques. 2003. John Wiley & Sons, Chichester, West Sussex,
UK. This book provides an excellent coverage of surface
science techniques, many of which are not covered in this
chapter. The book is recommended for students who wish
to gain a better understanding of vibrational spectroscopy
at surfaces and scanning probe methods.
Boyd, R. W. Nonlinear Optics. 1992. Academic Press, San
Diego, CA. This book is recommended for the advanced
student interested in nonlinear methods such as secondharmonic generation and sum-frequency generation. The
book provides an excellent fundamental treatment of
nonlinear optics.
