Gas chromatographic analysis on a chiral stationary phase and comparison of
the mass spectrometric fragmentation patterns under different ionization conditions
with those observed for the natural product showed that its structure is (5Z,9S)-140.
Exposure of this compound to the termites did not trigger any behavioral changes in
first experiments, but the synthetic accessibility of (5Z,9S)-140 did not only help in
confirming and completing the structural assignment, but will also pave the way for
