– Survey the “cold” side of these boundaries periodically to confirm that
contamination is not spreading.
– Adjust boundaries and/or decontaminate as necessary if contamination is found
to have spread from the “hot” to the “cold” side of the boundaries.
• Ensure that all patients are decontaminated before they are released from any
“hot” area, whether for discharge or to be admitted (Fig. 17.6).
