APPENDIX B
TABULATIONS OF
SEMICONDUCTING
MATERIAL PROPERTIES
In this book we have discussed various types of nanostructures, many of which are
semiconductors composed of the group IVelements Si or Ge, type 111-V compounds
such as GaAs, or type 11-VI compounds such as CdS with the sphalerite (zinc
blende) structure of Fig. 2.8. The properties of these materials often become
modified when they are incorporated into nanoscale structures or devices. It will
be helpful to bring together in this appendix a set of tables surveying and comparing
their various properties in the bulk state so that they can be referred to when needed
throughout the chapters of the book.
Tables B. 1-B.5 contain crystallographic and related data, and electronic information such as bandgaps, effective masses, mobilities, donor/acceptor ionization
energies, and dielectric constants are presented in Tables B.6-B.11. These are the
Introduction to Nanotechnology, by Charles l? Poole Jr. and Frank J. Owens.
