The experimental results analyzed with SLS in comparison to simulation results
are given in Fig. 20. As observable, the model can predict the average particle size correctly even for a complex flowsheet including a recycle stream. The simulation with
a splitting factor of β = 0.3 ( ¯

−1 ) required 26 iterations on a flowsheet
level with a total computational time requirement of τ ct = 5.6 s (ct—computational
time) in Dyssol on one core of an Intel Core i7-7700 3.60 GHz processor. Consequently, even for complex flowsheets, the steady-state model combines reasonable
accuracy with a high numerical efficiency.
