10.3.3 Penetration Recognition
After plenty of welding tests, we have found three penetration types. They are shown
in Fig. 10.30: excessive penetration, full penetration and partial penetration. Three
levels of welding current are utilized, 420 A, 500 A and 580 A, which contributes
to the three penetration types, respectively. We have done some experiments on 304
stainless steel. The arc current, arc voltage and arc acoustic signals are collected
simultaneously. Details about the experiments are shown in Table 10.4.
