Finally, in the Ti 5 Al 5 V 5 Mo 3 Cr alloy, the microhardness ranges from 290–320 HV in
the molten zone; between 300–360 HV in the HAZ and between 370–390 HV in the
BM. These results show that the microhardness values are similar for the three zones
(FZ, HAZ and BM) in the CpTi and Ti 6 Al 4 V welds. However, in Ti 5 Al 5 V 5 Mo 3 Cr
welds, the values in the FZ are slightly lower than in the base metal. This same
trend in microhardness values has been observed at electron beam welds (EBW) of
these three alloys [12–14]. Thus, for this metastable β titanium alloy, FZ has lower
microhardness than the BM. This is due to the fact that precipitation hardening is
