3.1.4 Multiple Test Section Wind Tunnel
The Malavard wind tunnel at the PRISME laboratory in Orléans is a facility
with multiple test sections, inaugurated in 1990. This facility has the particularity
of having two test sections: the main test section and a secondary test section in the
wind tunnel return circuit (see Fig. 3.9).
The main test section has a length of 5 m and a cross section of 2 × 2 m
2 . It
provides a flow velocity of 55 m/s with an adjustable turbulence intensity level of at
least 0.4% (see Fig. 3.10). The tunnel is equipped with a 6-component floor mounted
force balance and its transparent walls allow the use of optical diagnostic techniques.
