Fig. 14.8). To some extent, they could be considered as an air taxi, as they will be
expected to take off and land in urban area and while carrying four to six passengers.
They are expected to be unmanned vehicles for higher safety of operations with the
possibility of vertical take-off and landing. The architectures of the proposed concepts
vary drastically from conventional designs through implementation of several key
technologies such as:
– distributed propulsion with electrically driven propellers,
– innovative configuration adapted to the distributed propulsion,
– hybrid energy sources,
– an integrated control including energy management and the possibilities of thrust
vectoring.
