one can deduce the dynamic behaviour of the flow, in particular the turbulence in
the frequency domain or spectra. The present practical limit of time resolved PIV is
around 20 kHz.
11.6.7 PIV Vs. LDV: A Brief Conclusion
In its current versions laser-optic velocimetry started appearing in wind tunnel and
fluid mechanics laboratories during the 80s. It has revolutionised our approach to
conducting experiments by enabling velocity measurements in flow field without
the use of intrusive solid probes. Regions of detached flows which were previously
