About the Authors
Bruno Chanetz has been a research engineer at ONERA since 1983. He holds a
Ph.D. from Lyon I University and is qualified to director of research (HDR). He is
the author of numerous publications on hypersonics and plasmas for aerodynamics.
He was responsible for the wind tunnels at ONERA Meudon. Besides he was in
charge of the boundary layer course at the Ecole Centrale de Paris in 1996, and
he was appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Versailles
Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in 2003, then at the University Paris-Ouest in 2009,
where he still teaches.
Jean Délery is an engineering graduate from SUPAERO who joined ONERA in
1964 where he participated in major French and European aerospace programmes
of the time. Specialist in the field of experimental aerodynamics, he is the author of
numerous scientific publications and several books. He held teaching positions in
particular at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Sapienza
University of Rome, SUPAERO and Ecole Polytechnique and is qualified to
director of research (HDR). He is currently Emeritus advisor at ONERA and
Chairman of the Aerodynamics Technical Committee of 3AF.
Patrick Gilliéron is an aerodynamic engineer, with a Ph.D. in mechanics and a
director of research (HDR). Author of several international publications, he has
worked for more than 35 years on the analysis, understanding and control of flow
separation. He has been involved as a teaching fellow and then associate professor
at the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (CNAM) from 1987 to 2001. He
created and directed a research group in “Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics”
from 2002 to 2011 at the Research Department of Renault.
Patrick Gnemmi is an engineer, holds a Ph.D. in mechanics and is qualified to
director of research (HDR). For more than 35 years, at the French-German Research
Institute of Saint-Louis (ISL), he has carried out research in aeroacoustics of
helicopter rotors, aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics of projectiles and missiles
