Cristina Pizarro- Irizar is an assistant professor at the University of the Basque
Country and associate researcher fellow at BC3. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of the Basque Country. Her research focuses on
the economics of renewable energy, mainly in the analysis of the policies
aimed at renewable energy support in Spain.
Mariana Silaen has worked for PT Sustainability & Resilience (su- re.co), Bali,
Indonesia, in the scope of research and hands- on activities related to climate
change and renewable energy in rural areas with interlinkage to wider
impacts with various stakeholders. She holds a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and a Master’s degree in
International Development from the University of Manchester.
Eleftherios Siskos is a chemical engineer and currently a PhD candidate in the
Decision Support Systems Laboratory of NTUA. His research interests fall
into the areas of multi- criteria decision analysis, multi- objective programming, and robustness analysis of decision support models. The optimisation
problems he mostly focuses on concern energy planning and environmental
management towards sustainable development.
Lei Song is Associate Professor of Urban Sustainable Development at the China
Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong, China. She is also a post doctor in
the Institute of Urban Sustainable Development and Environmental Studies,
CASS. Now her research field focuses on low- carbon economics, climate
change, and ecosystem services.
Alevgul H. Sorman is a postdoctoral researcher at the Basque Centre for
Climate Change (BC3) with a PhD (2011) from the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) of the Autonomous University of
Barcelona (UAB). Her work focuses on interfacing energy and societal
metabolism with justice concerns on changing energy frontiers.
Eise Spijker is a senior adviser and researcher on market and innovation system
analysis, low- emission transition pathways, bioenergy, sustainable agriculture,
emissions trading and policy interactions. He has participated in several EUfunded research projects on these topics and is also a regular adviser to the
Netherlands government.
Karl Steininger is Professor at the Department of Economics at the University
of Graz and Head of Economics of the Climate and Global Change Research
Group (EconClim) at the Wegener Center. He specialised in environmental
and ecological economics and in international trade, and has led national
and international interdisciplinary research projects for more than two
decades (on behalf of the World Bank, the OECD, and various national
research funding agencies). He has long- lasting research experience in
