Bruwer et al. (1981) reported that 8% power loss occurred after 1000 hours of
operation with neat sunflower oil. The power loss was corrected by replacing
the fuel injectors and injector pump. After 1300 hours of operation, the carbon deposits in the engine were reported to be equivalent to a diesel-fueled
engine except for the injector tips, which exhibited excessive carbon buildup.
Tadashi et al. (1984) evaluated the feasibility of using rapeseed oil and palm
oil for diesel fuel in a naturally aspirated direct injection diesel engine. It has
been reported that vegetable oil fueled engines gave an acceptable engine
performance and exhaust emission levels for short-term operation. However,
