So, to shorten resident time in the high temperature zone in the furnace will help to
decrease the oxide scale thickness on the slab surfaces.
9.4.2 Temperature Distribution Within the Slab
A pusher typed reheat furnace is one of the main steel slab reheating equipment,
whose main task is reheating the slabs on the rolling line according to our process
heating require. The reheating quality of steel slab will directly affect the final product
quality and performance. Several basic indicators, such as slab discharge temperature, temperature difference of cross section, oxide scale thickness and so on, can be
used to measure reheating quality. The slab discharge temperature mainly depends
on some factors, such as sorts of slab steel, slab transporting temperature dropping,
production specifications, rolling process, etc. Generally speaking, based on satisfying the technological demands, lower discharge temperature is favorable to reduce
the per unit product energy consumption and to increase the product performance.
