2 Description of the Wolfram SystemModeler
Modelica supports a wide range of mathematical methods that allow one to
describe both continuous and discrete behaviors described by hybrid differential–
algebraic equations. The language supports both causal (often used for designing
control systems) and acausal (often used when creating schema-oriented physical
structures) approaches within the same model.
Modelica is a language for modeling the behavior of engineering systems in almost
any engineering field. It supports both the creation of physical models and control
systems.
SystemModeler consists of a modeling environment—Model Center; runtime
computational experiment—Simulation Center; and the Wolfram SystemModeler
Link package to communicate with the Mathematica package that connects to
SystemModeler.
Getting started with SystemModeler is launching the Model Center. With him,
we will start dating.

By default, the Model Center runs with four windows (see Fig. 2.1):
