About the Author
Chang Q Sun received his B.Sc. in 1982 from
Wuhan University of Science and Technology and an
M.Sc. in 1987 from Tianjin University and served on its
faculty until 1992. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics
at Murdoch University in 1997 and then joined
Nanyang Technological University. He holds an honorary appointment at Yangtze Normal University,
Chongqing, China.
Dr. Sun has been working on the theme of
Coordination Bonding and Electronic dynamics. He
has developed a comprehensive set of theoretical and
spectral approaches, leading to a systematic understanding of the bonding, electronic and molecular dynamics
and energetics pertained to atomic undercoordination,
multifield perturbation to solid mechanics and water ice,
aqueous solvation, and CNHO chemisorption. Major
breakthroughs include: (i) reconciliation of the attributes
of undercoordinated adatoms, defects, edges, surfaces,
and the size dependency of nanostructures; (ii) resolution
to anomalies of water and ice under perturbation;
(iii) quantification of the CNHO chemisorption bonding
and electronic dynamics; and, (iv) clarification of charge
injection upon acid, base, salt, electrolyte and organic
molecular solvation.
His contribution has been cultivated into four bilingual monographs, 30 perspectives/reviews, and over 400
peer-reviewed journal articles. He was bestowed with the
inaugural Nanyang Award in 2005 and the first rank
of the 25th Khwarizmi International Award in 2012. He
is currently on the advisory boards for multiple journals.
