Superior Types of Bamboo
as a Construction Material with MCDM

Abstract Bamboo is one of the oldest types of material that can be used in many
areas of human life. In the construction industry, bamboo is quite common, but not
every species can be used. In construction industry important part is how to use
bamboo and which treatment to use, how not to harm environment with methods of
treatment. The considered types of bamboo can not only be used in construction,
but also in various other areas of construction and design. Tables showing the types
of bamboo and their comparison, the types of construction approaches frequently
used by architects and the important criteria for bamboo as a building material are
presented. MCDM methods was described in work and was selected as the multicriteria method as it identifies a solution that takes into account several criteria
based on a comparison of each aspect regarding the selected criterion. Bamboo
has significant potential as a building material and there is confidence that it is an
environmentally friendly material. Confidence in choosing the right type of bamboo
is just as important as constructing using the bamboo.
