12.3.7 Safety Risk (SR)
Workers safety during water treatment process should be taken into consideration in
evaluation and selection of the best among computing disinfection methods. This is
due to the fact that bad accident could happen on the workers during the operation
and maintenance of the system.
12.3.8 Residue Formation
RF in water treatment is the ability of water disinfection method to create residues
that protects the treated water from recontamination because of short coming in the
water storage and distribution system (Curiel-Esparza et al. 2014). Thus, evaluation
should be made to make sure that disinfectant residue is available in the water storage
and distribution system (EPA 2011). The best disinfectant alternative is the one which
persists for long even after treatment.
12.4 Application of the Fuzzy Based-VIKOR Technique
for the Analysis of the Water Disinfection Methods
In this study, fuzzy based-VIKOR which is a known MCDM method is used to
analyze the performance of different water disinfection methods.
For evaluation of disinfectant methods considering different criteria, firstly the
decision matrix of the disinfection methods has been obtained as seen in Table 12.1.
The importance weights of each parameter selected by the experts with the
linguistic fuzzy scale as presented in Table 12.2.
