In case of WT shear, the simulation based on manufacturers data exceeds the strength
of the calibrated simulation, since the provided WT-shear strength is higher than the
experimentally obtained shear strength. The simplified perfectly plastic model does not
enable to model decreasing stress due to cell wall buckling or tearing. This is evident in
the respective stress-strain progression. In contrast, the calibrated plastic model enables
to approximate the actual curve progression of the experiments including the plateau
stress. Therefore, the simulation results of the calibrated material model agree better
with the experimental results. Both implemented material models are given as ABAQUS
input format in Appendix A1. In terms of computational effort, the implemented 3Dcontinuum model is not representative, since only single elements were studied for material calibration.
