Vinyl ester resins also have the disadvantages of having
1. Strong aromatic odor for indoor or confinedspacea pplications
2. Shelf life limitation of the resins requirerefrigerated storage below
608 F/158 Ct oe xtend its useful life.
10.6 AcrylicCoating
Acrylic monolithic coatings are suitable for interior or exteriora pplications
with relativelyb enigna tmospherice xposures. Refer to Table1 8.5o f
Fundamentals of MetallicCorrosion: Atmospheric and MediaCorrosionofMetals.
They excel at water and weather resistance, and arebest at “breathing” in the
presence of amoisture transmissive problem in the stab. They are intended
for protection againstmoderate corrosionenvironments. The advantages for
their use are as follows:
1. Theyare the easiest of the resin systemstomix andapply by using
pour-in-place andself-leveling techniques.
2. Because of their outstanding weather resistance, they are equally
appropriate for indoor or outdoor applications.
