building certifications from around the world, and the certification being pursued, if
any, can be designated when setting up a new project.
Once the project has been created in the web interface, the “LCA in cloud” button in the Revit interface will bring the material quantities and LCI data mappings
from Revit to the web to complete the study. The study must get entered as a design
within the project that was created. The ability to host multiple designs within one
project allows for easy comparisons of the environmental impacts of different
designs. Information specific to the design must be entered, including a unique
name for the design, what stage of the design process the study is being completed
at, what type of project it is, the frame type, and what overarching building component types are included in the study. All of this information will have been previously defined in the goal and scope phase of the study and reported here.
8.4.4.5 Additional Information Required
As the data is moved to the web, the user has the ability to again visit the material
mappings and quantities included in the study as defined in Revit. The materials
from the LCI data points that were assigned are displayed, along with their quantity,
the assumed transportation method and distance, and the service life of the specific
product (Fig. 8.15). The transportation and service life are set using defaults based
on the product and location, but the user has the ability to update the information if
data specific to the project is known.
