Human Exposure to Pesticides
Huge amounts of pesticides natural or synthetic other than POPs are designated as
endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). These pesticides may also undergo different transformation processes resulting into the formation of different types of EDCs
present in heterogeneous classes. Once these pesticides released into environment,
they are aggravated. Some pesticides have shorter half-lives but unfortunately, they
are continuously releasing into the environment as agricultural runoff or urban environments, therefore should be present in high amounts surrounding their sources
(Fig.  17.3). Exposure to agricultural drift, dietary exposure to pesticide residues,
i.e., contaminated meat, fish, vegetable, rice, etc., are the main sources for their
