Wales, erosion characterizes 23% of the coastline. Various costly sea defense structures protect valuable infrastructure but the integrity of seawalls, jetties, groins,
breakwaters themselves will be threatened by sea level rise and increased storminess. I refer you to the loss of a Land Rover in 1974 to get a feel for the incredible
erosive power of the ocean. There is no place on Earth that experiences more change
than the coastal zone where that raw power impinges upon the land.
