perspective of the VCLG regarding the online communication of natural/cultural
resources.
Despite these limitations, and although results cannot be generalised, this study is
still able to provide useful and noteworthy insights that also result from the answer
to the research questions. However, more thorough survey procedures should be
implemented in future research to include perspectives of other types of tourism
enterprises and also of the local community and organisations, particularly focusing
on sustainable tourism.
These results are important as they can help to identify which initiatives enterprises
are more willing to participate in and support, which can contribute to encouraging
greater adoption of sustainable practices by other enterprises. Also, these results
provide insights about what could be improved in terms of communication strategies
appropriated to leisure-related enterprises, contributing to a more effective use of
SM to promote sustainable tourism.
