5.3 Synthesis of Furanoeremophilan-15,6-olide
Tada et al. synthesized some furanoeremophilanes from a furan compound
(Scheme 5) [317]. The dianion of 2,4-dimethyl-3-furoic acid (1073) was coupled with cyclohexenone 1072 to afford 1074, which was cyclized further to
15- norfuranoeremophilane 1075. Compounds 212 and 1078 were synthesized
from 1075 via the one-carbon elongated compounds 1076 and 1077, respectively.
