where, B tenvdust is the benefit of dust reduction, Fa dust shows the dust emission factor
for standard coal, and C dust is the dust disposal cost.
The environmental benefit to the third country, India, is the sum of the reduction
effects of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides and can be calculated using the following equation:
B tenv ¼ B tenvsox þ B tenvnox þ B tenvdust
ð20:14Þ
where, B tenv is the total environmental benefit to the third country (in this case India).
20.5.2.4 Economic Profits of Indian Power Plants
Fuel cost equals energy consumption saved multiplied by coal price. Sales of power
are obtained by multiplying the amount of power generated by one coal-fired power
plant (Eq. 20.7) by the power sale price and power transmission efficiency. It is
assumed that model type does not affect the operating cost, which is calculated by
adding the annual operating cost in India to the number of operators multiplied by
operator salary. The annual profit of the power plant (including desulfurization,
denitrification, and dust removal) equals the annual sales of the power plant minus
the difference of annual operating cost and costs of desulfurization, denitrification,
and dust removal. The final economic profit for India equals profit from CO 2 sales
plus profit from the Indian power plants. The economic profit of the Indian power
plant is estimated here mainly as the profit of the company and can be calculated
using the following equation:
B t ¼ Q tot  P e  R tra À P þ POP  S a  Y þ EN sc  P c  Y þ M  Y
ð
Þ
À C a
ð20:15Þ
B tenvco2 ¼ Q tot  Fa CO 2  P CDM
ð20:16Þ
B te ¼ B t À B tenv þ B tenvco2
ð20:17Þ
where, B t is the economic profit of the third country (India); P e is the selling price of
electricity; POP is the number of employees at the power plant; S a is the employee
salary; EN sc is the annual coal consumption of the power plant after remodeling; P c
is the price of coal; M is the annual operating cost excluding personnel costs; C a is
the original power generation facility disposal cost; Fa CO 2 shows the carbon dioxide
emission factor for standard coal; P CDM is the price of per CDM credit; and B te
shows the annual profit of the power plant (excluding desulfurization, denitrification,
and dust removal).
