Chapter 9
Low-Carbon Technology Integration
Baoju Jia, Faming Sun, and Weisheng Zhou
Abstract Energy scarcity and global warming are two critical global issues in this
century that must be appropriately solved in a simultaneous manner to realize
sustainable development of the world. The objective of this chapter is to present
some potential low-carbon technologies for power generation for East Asian
Low-Carbon Community (LCC) to help the LCC to find its sustainable energy
solutions. Current situation, basic principles, potential analysis, and technology
integration of the technologies are generally introduced in detail. Results show that
the wind power generation, PV, and OTEC have great potential contribution of clean
electricity toward sustainable development of East Asian Low-Carbon Community.
In addition, the solar thermal power generation also shows a good choice for China
in clean electricity production. Thus, the governments in East Asian Low-Carbon
Community should stimulate their development widely and effectively by carrying
out effective energy policies to realize a sustainable decarbonized society.
9.1 Introduction
Energy scarcity and global warming are two critical global issues that must be
appropriately solved to achieve sustainable global development. Adoption of
low-carbon technologies for electricity generation is a promising way to solve
these issues simultaneously, since clean power can be generated with low or no
CO 2 emissions.
