the Investigation of Groundwater Background Conditions of Hazardous Wastes
Disposal Sites (revised draft), the necessary indexes to be monitored in the disposal
site are listed in Table 5.124. The selected indexes are screened out in reference to
the National Hazardous Waste Inventory and according to the characteristic polluting components of each hazardous wastes disposal unit, so that at least three
inorganic and organic ones are selected respectively for testing. Supplementary
monitoring shall be carried out when necessary, based on the singularity of various
sites and the actual conditions of the site and in comparison with the daily monitoring factors and frequencies after such factors and frequencies have been determined, and the factors and frequencies for supplementary monitoring shall be
determined.
According to the requirements of Technical Guidelines for Groundwater
Investigation and Assessment of Hazardous Waste Landfills, the necessary characteristic indexes refer to the indexes needing monitoring in a specific site. The 17
necessary characteristic indexes are required to be analyzed by taking samples from
all groundwater monitoring well sites, and the detected indexes as identified by the
testing report will be designated as the characteristic indexes of the landfill and the
undetected ones will be eliminated.
