2. Investigation of hazardous wastes disposal site
(1) Basic profile of hazardous wastes disposal site
① Project overview
Project
Hazardous wastes disposal site;
Construction unit
XX Solid Wastes Disposal Company in the New Area of
a certain city;
Construction site
New Area of a certain city;
Total investment
The total investment is 100 million yuan, of which the
environmental protection investment amounts to 34.9
million yuan, accounting for 34.9%;
Building area
The gross building area is 60,000 m
2 (90 mu), including
16,200 m
2 of greening area, with a greening rate of 27%;
Staff number
36;
Working hours
330d per year (with the work suspended in rainy days)
and 8 h per day, i.e. 2,640 h per year;
Service years
12;
Landfill storage capacity 220,000 m
3 , including about 20,000 tons of hazardous
wastes per year;
Service scope
The city concerned, covering 4 Districts and 3 cities;
Surrounding conditions The geologic location of the project is shown in
Fig. 5.99, and the conditions 1000 m around are illustrated in Fig. 5.100.
② Anti-seepage techniques for hazardous wastes disposal site
The anti-seepage system of the disposal site, primarily designed and constructed as
per the “Technical Specification for the Construction of Hazardous Wastes Landfill
Disposal Project”, adopts the flexible structure as the main structure and the
double-layered man-made liner system. The structures comprise the followings
from bottom to top: the basal layer, support layer, groundwater drainage layer,
inverted filter, protective layer, secondary barrier system, percolate reconditioning
layer, primary barrier system, protective layer above film, inverted filter, and percolate discharge guiding layer, etc.
Percolate discharge guiding and collection system:
Separate percolate collection and drainage systems are employed in the landfill
areas. Pebble drainage layers are arranged at the bottom of the landfill, and main
blind drains for percolate collection are constructed at the main ridge of the basal
layer, perpendicular to which the secondary blind drains for percolate collection are
built at intervals. Percolate collecting wells are provided at the lowest level of the
basal layer. According to calculations, the main blind drains for percolate collection
shall be fitted with percolate collecting perforated pipes, and the secondary blind
drains shall be fitted with percolate collecting auxiliary pipes.
